Club Rules

INTRODUCTION

Le Beau Monde® focuses on promoting intellectual growth, social and cultural enrichment, and philanthropic pursuits within a refined atmosphere. 

It serves as a gathering place where women can connect, thrive, and pursue their passions, while also contributing to social, ethical, and philanthropic causes. In cultivating a cultured lifestyle, Le Beau Monde® brings together like-minded women, creating a collective that generates value for modern society through shared experiences and endeavours.

The following rules and regulations have been established to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all members. Adherence to these rules is mandatory for membership in Le Beau Monde®.

RULES IN BRIEF

MEMBERSHIP

All members are bound by the rules and regulations of The Club.

Membership is non-transferable and granted to individuals rather than couples or corporations.

The election of Members shall be at the absolute discretion of the General Committee.

No candidate for Membership under 25 years of age shall be eligible for Membership.

 

CHATHAM HOUSE RULE

All discussions and events organised by the Club are conducted under the Chatham House Rule. This means that information shared at the Club shall not be attributed to any individual or organisation without their express consent. Members shall respect this rule and not share information in a way that could compromise the privacy and confidentiality of other members.

 

PRIVACY

Members are permitted to capture photos and videos at Le Beau Monde’s activities and events, provided they do so discreetly and ensure that no other member is visible in the content. Members shall also ensure that any social media postings related to The Club are discreet and do not feature other members and their guests without their express consent.

This policy safeguards the exclusive nature of Le Beau Monde® and fosters a respectful atmosphere for all members to enjoy.

The Club activities and events shall be a place for enrichment, relaxation, and community, and all members shall be mindful of others and respect their space at all times. Mobile phones must be kept on silent to avoid disrupting the atmosphere of any activity or event organised by The Club.

 

DRESS CODE

Le Beau Monde® upholds a sophisticated atmosphere by requiring members and their guests to adhere to a specific dress code. Attire such as flip-flops, shorts, gym wear, sportswear, ripped jeans, baseball caps, hooded jumpers, beachwear, crop tops, fleeces, visible underwear, and overly revealing outfits are not accepted. This dress code ensures that the environment remains refined and comfortable, maintaining the distinguished character of the club for all members and guests to enjoy.

 

GUESTS

Members are welcome to bring one guest to a Salon ten times a year unless otherwise stated for an event. Please find more details here.

The relevant Member must always accompany their guest, for the duration of the event. Members are ultimately responsible for the behaviour of their guests.

 

NON-SOLICITATION

Le Beau Monde® enforces a strict no-solicitation policy for all members, guests, and partners. This policy prohibits any solicitation of financial contributions or products and services for both personal and professional reasons. By maintaining a solicitation-free environment, the club ensures that members can focus on fostering meaningful connections and enjoying the enriching experiences offered, free from unwanted distractions or pressures.

 

COMMUNICATION

Members are expected to respond to other members should they make contact. The ethos of our network is open communication among fellow members. Warnings shall be given should members be continuously unresponsive.

Members both in person and online should be respectful of individual views and avoid any discussions regards religion and politics.

 

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

Any infringement of the rules and/or any additional Rules may result in the immediate termination of Membership at The Club’s discretion.

RULES IN FULL

ADMINISTRATION

  1. The name of the club is “Le Beau Monde” (“the Club”).
  2. The General Committee of Le Beau Monde (“the Club”) shall exercise the powers conferred upon it by these Rules, as well as any other powers of management it may undertake at the request of the Club.
  3. It is clarified that any powers given to the General Committee pursuant to these Rules may be exercised by the Club. The General Committee may, at its discretion, delegate any of its powers to any other person(s).
  4. The General Committee shall meet as often as may be necessary to ensure the proper conduct of the affairs of the Club.
  5. The Club shall appoint officers from time to time. The officers of the Club shall consist of the Chairman, Secretary, and the Members of the General Committee (each “an Officer”).
  6. Nothing shall prevent a Member from holding more than one office.
  7. Any Officer may be removed at any time by a majority of the General Committee, subject to the consent of the Club. An Officer shall vacate their office if suspended from Membership or on ceasing Membership for any reason.
  8. The Club shall have sole responsibility for the appointment and dismissal of all Club employees.

 

MEMBERSHIP

  1. All members are bound by the rules and regulations of The Club.
  2. Membership is non-transferable and granted to individuals rather than couples or corporations.
  3. The election of Members shall be at the absolute discretion of the General Committee.
  4. No candidate for Membership under 25 years of age shall be eligible for Membership.
  5. Every candidate for admission as a Member shall be proposed by a Member who shall vouch, from their personal knowledge, for the fitness of the candidate. The candidate shall be proposed by request from an existing Member either in person or via a phone call followed by an official email, if the request is accepted the candidate will receive by post a formal invitation to apply. Please note that invitation to apply doesn’t mean acceptance. The application will be officialised by the completion of a proposal form. The membership committee will then vet and verify all information provided on the application form and will contact the candidate if further information or documentation is required. If successful, the candidate will then be invited for an informal meeting with a Member of the General Committee.
  6. Any omission from or inaccuracy in the particulars relating to or the description of any candidate for Membership may render her election void or subject to termination at the discretion of the General Committee.
  7. Any Member who is of the opinion that any candidate who is proposed for election as a Member would not be a desirable Member shall inform the Secretary who shall communicate the objection to the General Committee or sub-committee thereof, but to no other person.
  8. Immediately upon the election of a Member, the Secretary shall give notice to her and send her a copy of these Rules and any applicable Membership-specific Rules and she shall, subject to due payment of the first subscription annual fee, then become a Member of the Club and be entitled to all the benefits and privileges of Membership and be bound by these Rules and any applicable additional Rules.
  9. The subscription for Members shall be such sums as the General Committee shall from time to time determine. Save in respect of the first subscription fee (in respect of which see Rule 23), future subscriptions for Members shall be paid: (a) within seven days of notice of renewal in each ensuing year if she is in the United Kingdom or within 3 months if abroad; or (b) if alternative payment date(s) are agreed by the General Committee, within 3 days of such agreed date(s). The Membership of any Member not complying with this Rule shall automatically terminate unless the General Committee shall in their absolute discretion decide otherwise.
  10. All subscription fees are inclusive of VAT and shall be paid to the Club’s bank account details in Pounds Sterling as directed by the Secretary of the Club.
  11. Any subscription fee paid in respect of any Membership is non-refundable.

 

TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP

  1. Any Member may terminate her Membership by giving to the Secretary a resignation notice in writing to that effect. Every such notice shall unless otherwise expressed be deemed to take effect as from the Monday next, following the receipt thereof, whereupon she shall cease to be a Member.
  2. The Proprietor shall have the right to immediately terminate any Membership or to refuse to renew any Membership without having to give a reason for such action.
  3. The General Committee shall have the right (but not the obligation) to immediately terminate any Membership without having to give a reason for such action. The committee may also decide to immediately terminate Membership for any of the following circumstances:
    1. if any Member shall be convicted of an indictable offence or adjudged a bankrupt or make a composition or arrangement with her creditors
    1. under the provision of any statute, or shall have been cashiered from H.M. Forces or warned off the turf;
    2. following breach of any of these Rules including and in particular the ones stated in “The Club’s Rules in Brief”;
    3. If any Member interferes with the appointment of Club employees or shall incite any Club employee to leave the employment of the Club;
    4. if the General Committee in its discretion decides a Member should not be permitted to continue as a Member, either of its own volition or following a Member informing the Secretary that they are of the opinion that the best interests of the Club require that a Member should not be permitted to continue as a Member of the Club;
    5. inappropriate conduct by guests of the relevant Member; or
    6. following breach of any additional rule that applies to any category of Membership from time to time.
    1. Upon termination of any Membership:
    2. no subscription fee (or any proportion thereof) shall be returned or refunded;
    3. any outstanding subscriptions for the current Membership year shall become immediately payable;
    1. any outstanding Club charges incurred by such person shall become immediately payable; and
    2. with the exception of Membership that has expired through lapse of time (which exception is subject to the absolute discretion of the General Committee), no such person shall ever again be proposed as a candidate for Membership or attend any of the Club activities and events unless it is expressly authorised in writing by the General Committee or a duly authorised Officer on their behalf.
    3. Any Member shall upon ceasing to be a Member of the Club forfeit all rights in the Club.

 

CLUB ADMISSION, CONDUCT AND BEHAVIOUR

  1. The supply of alcohol will be permitted in any of the Club’s activities and events during the venue’s general licensing hours for the district subject to any extension for the time being granted by the licensing authorities.
  2. Every Member shall before leaving any of the Club activities and events pay charges incurred (if any) by her except by a special arrangement with the Secretary in which case accounts must be settled within 30 days. Any Member who fails to settle such accounts within 30 days shall at the discretion of the General Committee either have their Membership terminated or have their Membership suspended for a period not exceeding 6 months.
  3. The Club, the Proprietor and General Committee and third-party venues cannot in any circumstances be responsible to Members or guests for:

(a) loss or damage to any property of any kind whilst at any Club activity or event; or

(b) loss or damage to motor cars or other vehicles parked, collected or driven by servants or agents of the Club or venues, or to the contents or accessories of any such motor cars or vehicles when attending any of the Club’s activities and events.

  1. The General Committee shall have power by their duly authorised Officer to refuse the admission of any guest if in their opinion it is desirable in the interests of the Club.
  2. Every Member of the Club shall give an email address to the Secretary for the receipt of all notices and in the event of change shall notify the Secretary, and all notices posted to such last given email address shall be considered as having been duly given, at the time of sending.

 

AMENDMENT AND INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES

  1. These Rules and any additional Rules may be changed, varied or revoked by the Proprietor and any change, variation or revocation of the Rules and/or additional Rules shall be deemed to have been brought to the notice of the Members and take immediate effect by emailing details of such change, posting details of such change on the Club notice board and/or including details on the Club website.
  2. The headings used in these Rules shall not affect the interpretation of the Rules.
  3. References in these Rules to the Rules shall be deemed to include, where relevant, reference to the Rules and any additional Rules together.
  4. Any personal information that you provide to the General Committee and/or Proprietor will be processed in accordance with the Club’s Privacy Policy which is available to view on the Club’s website.
  5. The General Committee shall be the sole authority for the interpretation of these Rules made thereunder and their decision shall be final and binding on the Members.
  6. Subject to Rule 5, the validity, construction and performance of these Rules (and any claim, dispute or matter arising under or in connection with them or their enforceability) and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and Wales. All parties (including all Members) irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales over any claim, dispute or matter arising under or in connection with these Rules or their enforceability or the legal relationships established by these Rules (including non-contractual disputes or claims).
